Tené Birahima Ouattara reassures families

According to Tené Birahima Ouattara, the 49 Ivorian soldiers detained in Mali since July 19, 2022 were on regular duty. They add that they will return to their country very soon.

After having already been received from the first days of the arrest of their children and parents on a mission in Mali, by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire, the families of the 49 soldiers were again received at the request of the President of the Republic Alassane Ouattara, by Minister Tené Birahima Ouattara on Wednesday August 3, 2022.

Message from Alfred Kouassi

It was Mr. Alfred Kouassi, the father of Lieutenant Kouassi, head of the detachment of the Ivorian contingent retained in Mali who, on behalf of the parents of the 49 soldiers, was the first to speak. “We have already been received by the Chief of Staff who gave us all the useful information on the circumstances of the presence and the arrest of our children. By receiving us again today, the Minister of State, Minister of Defense and the President of the Republic demonstrate here that the State does not forget its children. Thank you for all these efforts made for our children to regain their freedom, said Mr. Kouassi Alfred.

Addressing the other parents of soldiers held against their will in Mali, Alfred Kouassi said that the profession of arms is certainly difficult but rewarding. This is why he advised them to remain dignified and to support their children and the Ivorian authorities.
